Landed Cost Calculator
What a Bangladesh-made tee or hoodie costs once duty and import tax are added, for the US, UK, EU, Canada and Australia. Every rate verified against the official source on 19 September 2026.

- Duty: MFN 16.5% on HTS 6109.10 and 6110.20, plus the 10% Section 301 duty applied to all goods of Bangladesh for entries from 24 July 2026. The 19% IEEPA rate ended on 20 February 2026. A tariff-rate quota for garments made with US cotton has been promised but not published, so it is not applied here.
- Import tax: The US charges no VAT or GST at import. State sales tax applies when you sell, not when you import.
- USTR — Notice of Action, Section 301 (10% on goods of Bangladesh from 24 July 2026) ↗
- USITC — Harmonized Tariff Schedule (6109.10, 6110.20 general rate 16.5%) ↗

The rates behind the tool
The calculator does no guessing. Each destination carries the duty and import-tax position we verified on 19 September 2026, with the official source beside it. Where a figure could not be verified, the tool asks you for it rather than assuming: other EU member states’ VAT rates, for example, are entered by you, because we only verified Germany’s.
| Destination | Duty on cotton knit tees and hoodies | Import tax at the border |
|---|---|---|
| United States | 26.5% | None at import |
| United Kingdom | 0% | Import VAT 20% |
| Germany (EU) | 0% | Einfuhrumsatzsteuer (import VAT) 19% |
| Other EU member state | 0% | Member-state rate (you enter it) |
| Canada | 0% | GST 5% |
| Australia | 0% | GST 10% |
The country pages explain each position in full, with the origin rules and what happens after Bangladesh graduates from least-developed-country status: United States, United Kingdom, European Union, Germany, Canada and Australia.
What the tool leaves out
Customs brokerage fees, port charges and inland delivery vary by forwarder and are not modelled; a forwarder will quote them. The pending US tariff-rate quota for garments made with US cotton is not applied because USTR has not published its terms. And the tool does not decide whether Bangladesh is the right origin for you: our Bangladesh vs China vs Vietnam guide and the pricing calculator cover the rest of that decision.
Frequently asked questions
What is landed cost?
The full cost of getting a garment to your door: the manufacturing price, international freight and insurance, import duty, and the import VAT or GST your country charges at the border. A factory's FOB or ex-works price is only the first of those lines, which is why two quotes can look far apart and land the same. When we quote DDP, all of these lines are inside the number.
Why is the US the only market with a duty line?
Because it is the only one of the five that gives Bangladesh no preference on clothing. The UK, the EU, Canada and Australia all admit Bangladesh-made garments duty-free under their least-developed-country schemes. The US charges its normal MFN rate, 16.5% on cotton knit tees and hoodies, plus the 10% Section 301 duty applied to goods of Bangladesh from 24 July 2026. The rates were verified on 19 September 2026 and are listed with their official sources under the result.
Does the calculator cover every garment?
No. It is scoped to cotton knit t-shirts (HS 6109.10) and cotton sweatshirts and hoodies (HS 6110.20), the two lines we verified to the decimal. Every other market charges 0% on Bangladesh origin whatever the line, so the garment choice only changes the US figure. For blends, wovens or accessories, ask a customs broker for the rate on your exact code.
Is import VAT a real cost?
It is cash at the border, but if you are VAT- or GST-registered it is normally recoverable, so it affects your cash flow more than your margin. If you are not registered, it is a true cost. The US has no VAT at import; state sales tax applies when you sell.
Are these rates guaranteed?
No. They were checked against the official sources shown on 19 September 2026 and tariffs change, sometimes quickly. Treat the result as a planning figure, confirm the live rate for your commodity code with a licensed broker, and ask us to state the position for your order in writing.
