“Sustainable” is one of the most over-used words in fashion. So rather than ask you to take ours on faith, here’s exactly what we do — and how you can verify it.
We offer certified organic cotton in every fabric we make, and we are GOTS certified, RSC 9687 — the gold standard for organic textiles. GOTS tracks a fabric across its whole supply chain: organic fibres, banned toxic chemicals, environmental management, and fair working conditions. Organic cotton is one option among several. We also work with recycled performance blends, bamboo viscose, modal, and hemp — so you can choose the most responsible fabric that genuinely suits your garment, rather than greenwashing one that doesn’t.

Our low minimum of 150 pieces per style and colour lets brands make what they can actually sell, test before scaling, and avoid the overproduction that ends up in landfill. Low MOQ isn’t just founder-friendly — it’s less wasteful by design.
For certified organic cotton we send our GOTS scope certificate (RSC 9687) on request, and can arrange a Transaction Certificate covering your shipment. GOTS is our only certification, so across a mixed range we tell you which pieces can carry a certified claim and which cannot, before your labels are printed. If a supplier won’t show you certificates, that tells you something — we’ll always show you ours.

Yes, when certified fabric is booked for your order: we are GOTS certified, RSC 9687, and the scope certificate is available on request. Certified organic yarn is bought through certified suppliers, knitted and dyed at GOTS-certified partner mills and dye houses that we book and inspect, then cut and sewn on our own certified floor, so the chain of custody runs unbroken to the finished garment. GOTS requires every unit that handles certified fibre to hold its own certificate, so one uncertified mill anywhere in that chain would break the claim. Conventional cotton also runs on our floor for brands that do not need the claim, so certified runs are kept apart, and your label should say organic only when certified fabric was booked. Stretch styles need a check as well: GOTS caps synthetic content such as elastane, so tell us the blend before we quote. For proof covering one delivery, ask us about a Transaction Certificate.
Organic cotton, and cotton-rich blends whose other fibres stay within GOTS limits, are the pieces that can carry a certified claim from us, because our only certification is GOTS, RSC 9687. Our other options are recycled performance blends, bamboo viscose, modal and hemp. Under GOTS 7.0, the organic label calls for 95 per cent or more certified organic fibre, and the made with organic materials label for 70 per cent or more. Of the remainder, virgin synthetics such as elastane, together with viscose and modal, may make up 10 per cent at most, recycled synthetics 20 per cent, and virgin polyester is not allowed at all. A recycled-content claim needs GRS or RCS documentation, which we cannot supply, so the recycled content itself carries no certified claim from us, and a polyester- or nylon-based performance blend carries none. Bamboo has its own trap: in the US it must be labelled viscose from bamboo or rayon from bamboo. Ask us which wording your blend supports.
You can check it two ways: our GOTS certification, RSC 9687, includes labour criteria drawn from core ILO conventions, and you can see the floor for yourself. Collective Studio is a family-run, father-and-daughter knitwear factory in Narayanganj, Bangladesh, founded in 2019; Jashim Uddin is the founder and Homaira Jashim the co-founder. The GOTS criteria cover forced and child labour, discrimination, freedom of association, health and safety, hours and wages. GOTS 7.0 adds human-rights due diligence across a company's operations and suppliers, and requires each certified company to plan to close the gap between the wages it pays and a living wage. Pre-arranged visits are welcome. If travel is not practical, book a live call from the sewing floor at a time you choose while a shift is running, so what you see is an ordinary working day. Fabric knitting and dyeing are placed with partner mills, not done on our floor, and we tell you that upfront.
Usually yes, and mostly in the fabric: certified organic yarn costs more than conventional, and fabric is priced by weight. Certification adds its own cost: if a stockist wants proof for a delivery, the Transaction Certificate carries a fee set per order by the certification body, which weighs more on each piece of a 150-piece run than of a 1,000-piece one. Against that, set what a smaller run can save. Our minimum is 150 pieces per style and per colour, so you can buy against orders you have seen rather than a forecast, and stock that never sells is money spent for nothing. Launching small and reordering what sells can cost less overall than a cheap large run. We do not publish prices; we quote each order. The pricing calculator in our resources section shows the margin a given factory cost leaves you. If none of your buyers asks for certified proof, you can skip the certificate and simply make no environmental claim.
By working on the waste we control and being plain about the rest. The biggest lever is quantity: a minimum of 150 pieces per style and per colour lets a brand make what it expects to sell, test a style, then reorder, instead of making stock nobody has asked for. The second is fewer rejects. Our QC lead, Walter Meyer, has 38 years' experience. Knitwear is checked while it is sewn, so a repeating fault is caught early, then every unit of a 150-piece run is inspected against the sealed sample you approved, and larger runs are sampled to the AQL you set. The third is dyeing. Wet processing happens at partner dye houses we book and inspect, chosen for effluent treatment rather than on price alone; fewer, fuller dye lots mean fewer runs. What we will not claim: dyeing stays water- and energy-intensive, and a small order carries the same setup work as a large one, spread over fewer garments.
