Duty-free under EU EBA — same as the rest of the EU
Bangladesh-made apparel enters Germany at 0% duty under Everything But Arms. Bangladesh's LDC graduation date is itself pending a UN vote on a possible 2029 deferral.
Premium knitwear manufacturing for German brands — duty-free under the EU's Everything But Arms scheme, Germany's own 19% VAT worked out with a real number, and DDP so the landed cost you're quoted is the one you pay.

Most sourcing guides send a German founder looking for a clothing manufacturer for German brands straight to the generic EU page — and the EU-wide facts there do apply here, since Germany is an EU member. What that page can't tell you is the one number that's actually German, not European: VAT. The EU sets a minimum VAT floor, but each member state sets its own rate above it, and Germany's is 19% — not the 21%, 23% or 20% you'd pay landing the identical order in France, Poland or the UK.
On duty: Bangladesh-made apparel enters Germany, like the rest of the EU, under the Everything But Arms arrangement for least-developed countries — currently 0% duty. Bangladesh is scheduled to graduate from LDC status on 24 November 2026, though a live UN process may push that to 2029 — the UN Committee for Development Policy has recommended the deferral, unanimously forwarded to the General Assembly in July 2026, with a final vote expected before the original date. The EU's transition arrangements for what happens after are less settled than the UK's or Canada's, same honest caveat as our general EU page.
GPSR still applies the same way it does across the EU — Regulation (EU) 2023/988 requires a responsible person established in the EU and a technical file kept for ten years, and our GOTS certification (RSC 9687) supplies the fibre, chemistry and traceability evidence that file needs. Import VAT itself is collected at the border by German customs (Zoll), calculated on the customs value of the shipment. On 500 tees at a $6.00 landed cost at the German border ($3,000 total), that's $570 in VAT at 19%, and currently nothing in duty under EBA.
We ship DDP so that $570 is inside the number we quote before you commit, not a bill from Zoll that arrives separately — from a genuine 100-piece minimum with GOTS-certified organic fabric available. One honest note: if you're importing via a different EU member state and moving goods on to Germany afterward — common for brands warehousing in the Netherlands, where our own brand office sits — import VAT is collected wherever the goods first enter the EU, not necessarily in Germany. Tell us your actual routing and we'll confirm which applies.

Each EU country sets its own VAT rate. Germany's is 19%, collected by Zoll at the border on the customs value — we quote it inside one landed cost.
Launch or test in the German market with 100 pieces per style, per colourway.

Wonderful people to work with — very professional and knowledgeable, also accommodating to the needs of their customers.

We ship there — we're not a German production facility. Collective Studio manufactures in our own factory in Narayanganj, Bangladesh, and produces for German brands, shipping DDP directly to you. If you specifically need production inside Germany itself, we're not the right fit, and we'd rather say that plainly than let the confusion sit. If what you're after is a reliable, duty-free sourcing route for a German brand, that's exactly what we do.
No, currently. Bangladesh-made apparel enters the EU — Germany included — duty-free under the Everything But Arms arrangement for least-developed countries. That status is due to change when Bangladesh graduates from LDC classification, currently scheduled for 24 November 2026, though a live UN process may push that to 2029 — the UN Committee for Development Policy has recommended the deferral and it was unanimously forwarded to the General Assembly in July 2026, with a final vote expected before the original date. Germany's 19% import VAT still applies regardless of duty, and we ship DDP so that figure is inside your landed cost before you commit.
Because VAT isn't set EU-wide — only a minimum floor is. The EU requires member states to charge at least 15% standard VAT, but each country sets its own rate above that floor, and they genuinely differ: Germany is 19%, France is 20%, Poland is 23%. Our general EU page can't quote one number that's accurate for all 27 member states, so it doesn't try. This page exists specifically to give German buyers the real figure — 19%, charged by Zoll on the customs value at the border — rather than a range that could be off by several percentage points either way.
Bangladesh's graduation from LDC status is currently scheduled for 24 November 2026, and the EU applies a transition period for graduating countries rather than ending preferences overnight — but the EU's arrangements are less settled than the UK's or Canada's, so we'd rather flag it as a live question than quote you something that ages badly. The date itself is also pending revision: the UN Committee for Development Policy has recommended deferring it to 24 November 2029, forwarded to the General Assembly in July 2026, with a final vote expected before the original date. We'll update this page the moment either resolves.
One hundred pieces per style, per colour — the same floor as every market we ship to. For a German first order, most brands land on three to five hundred pieces across two or three styles, enough to justify a proper production run without the per-colour split working against you: three hundred tees in one colourway is a single fabric and dye lot, while a hundred each in three colours is three separate lots and prices accordingly. Since duty isn't currently a factor in your German landed cost, the main variable to plan around is the 19% VAT on top of the manufacturing cost. Work out the piece count first with our free MOQ calculator, then apply the 19% to it.
Sampling takes about ten days, bulk production forty to fifty days once the pre-production sample is approved, then freight on top. Sea freight typically lands at Hamburg or Bremerhaven within four to five weeks of leaving Chattogram. Air freight adds roughly five to eight days door to door and suits a launch date or a first order where speed matters more than cost. We ship DDP either way, so German VAT and clearance at the border are handled on our side, and you receive one landed cost and one delivery.
