We are a clothing manufacturer for Belgian brands: a family-run cut-and-sew knitwear floor in Narayanganj, Bangladesh, with a brand office in Amsterdam, a couple of hours from Brussels or Antwerp by train. We make t-shirts, polos, hoodies, sweatshirts, joggers, shorts, activewear and loungewear from 100 pieces per style and colour, and Belgium is one of the markets we can serve almost as a neighbour: the goods land at Antwerp, and the people you deal with are in your time zone.
The numbers: Bangladesh-made apparel enters the EU duty-free under Everything But Arms, and Belgium charges import VAT at its standard rate of 21% on the customs value plus any duty. We ship DDP, so that VAT is inside the price you approve rather than a separate assessment, and a VAT-registered Belgian importer normally recovers it on the periodic return. Ask your accountant how you want the import VAT handled and tell us before we file the entry.
Labelling is where Belgium is genuinely different. Fibre composition must follow the EU regulation, and Belgian law adds that mandatory label information be in a language the average consumer understands in the linguistic region where the goods are offered: Dutch in Flanders, French in Wallonia, both in Brussels, German in the East Cantons. We sew the combination you sell in, and a Dutch-French label covers most Belgian ranges; the compliance section below cites the article.
What we do not make: denim, jackets and woven shirts, which our partner buying house in the same industrial area sources as a separate order. What we do make can carry GOTS organic cotton under certificate RSC 9687 with a transaction certificate for your order, and the General Product Safety Regulation's technical file is built during production, not after, so a Belgian company importing from us has what it needs as the responsible operator.
Ports and timing: Antwerp-Bruges is the usual sea entry, Brussels or Liège the air entry. In our experience sea freight from Chattogram to the northern European ports takes roughly four to five weeks and air freight five to eight days door to door; we confirm the transit for Antwerp with the quote. Many Belgian brands warehouse in the Netherlands or clear at Rotterdam for the whole Benelux; import VAT is charged where the goods first enter the EU, and we set the paperwork up for whichever you choose.
If you are comparing kledingfabrikant or fabricant de vêtements options and finding mostly agents, apply the test we suggest everywhere: ask for the factory's street address, its BKMEA membership and a live video call from the floor during a working shift. Ours is Plot-A-132, Road No. 02, BSCIC Industrial Area, Panchabati, Narayanganj 1420, and the Amsterdam office at Soetendaal 61 is a real office with real people in it.

Belgium applies the EU's common rules: a garment cut and sewn on our floor enters duty-free under Everything But Arms on a single-transformation origin rule, and Regulation (EU) 2026/1395 keeps that access for three years after Bangladesh graduates from LDC status. The Belgian part is the tax: Royal Decree No. 20 of 20 July 1970 sets the standard rate at 21%, as the Royal Decree of 27 April 2021 published in the Moniteur belge restates ("le taux normal de 21 p.c."); clothing is not on the 6% or 12% lists. The FPS Finance rates page was not machine-readable when we checked, so we cite the decree itself.
On 500 tees at a US$6.00 customs value, US$3,000 in total, that is US$630 of import VAT and no duty, inside our DDP price. A VAT-registered importer recovers it through the periodic return.
Confirm the live position for your commodity code with your broker before pricing a range; we will state it for your order in writing, and the landed-cost calculator runs the arithmetic for any quantity.

Fibre composition follows Regulation (EU) No 1007/2011: every fibre by generic name and percentage in descending order on a durable, legible label. Article 16(3) lets each member state require its own official language on garments sold there. Belgium has three official languages, and Article VI.8 §1 of the Code de droit économique requires mandatory labelling to be worded at least in a language the average consumer understands given the linguistic region where the goods are offered: Dutch in Flanders, French in Wallonia, both in Brussels, German in the East Cantons. We sew labels to your artwork, in more languages if you sell across the Union. Country of origin is not required by that regulation, though the customs declaration states it and any origin claim you print must be true. The article is in the Act of 21 December 2013 inserting Book VI into the Code.
Since 13 December 2024 the General Product Safety Regulation (EU) 2023/988 requires an EU-established responsible economic operator, the manufacturer's name and postal and electronic address on the product or packaging, a risk analysis and technical documentation kept for ten years; a company importing from us in Belgian is that operator, and GOTS certificate RSC 9687 supplies the fibre, chemistry and traceability evidence behind the file. REACH Annex XVII entry 43 bans azo dyes that release listed aromatic amines above 30 mg/kg in textiles worn against the skin, and EN 14682 governs cords and drawstrings on children's clothing; the GPSR guide walks through the file.
Looking ahead, the Commission plans the ESPR textile delegated act carrying the Digital Product Passport for apparel for adoption in late 2027 with at least 18 months' transition, so the passport is not a 2026 obligation.
We quote DDP, delivered duty paid, to any Belgian address: freight, the customs entry at Antwerp or Brussels, the import VAT and delivery inside one landed price, with the commercial invoice, packing list and statement on origin sent to you before the goods move. In our experience sea freight to northern European ports takes roughly four to five weeks from Chattogram and air freight five to eight days door to door.
Bangladesh Standard Time is UTC+6 with no daylight saving, four to five hours ahead of Belgium. Our floor works Sunday to Thursday, 09:00 to 18:00, so your morning overlaps our afternoon, and our Amsterdam office, in your time zone and a couple of hours away by train, covers the rest of the day for design conversations, samples and compliance paperwork, in Dutch, French or English.

Bangladesh is scheduled to graduate from UN Least Developed Country status on 24 November 2026. In February 2026 it asked for an extension; the UN Committee for Development Policy said one would be appropriate provided reforms continue, and in July 2026 the Economic and Social Council referred the request to the General Assembly (UN LDC portal). No General Assembly decision had been published when we checked on 21 September 2026, and the 2029 date in press reports is the requested date, not a decided one.
For a Belgian order the consequence is bounded: Regulation (EU) 2026/1395 keeps Everything But Arms for three years after whichever graduation date lands, so duty-free access runs to at least the end of 2029 on the current timetable. Import VAT is unaffected by any of it. What follows that window depends on whether Bangladesh qualifies for GSP+, which is genuinely unresolved; our LDC graduation guide sets out the scenarios.

I have had a very good experience with this company. They are very friendly, professional, and provide fast service. They speak fluent English, which makes communication very easy. The quality of their manufacturing is excellent. I have no doubt in recommending this company to anyone looking for a reliable manufacturing partner in Bangladesh.

No, at present. Bangladesh-made apparel enters every EU member state duty-free under Everything But Arms, on a single-transformation origin rule that our cut-and-sew floor satisfies. Bangladesh is scheduled to graduate from LDC status on 24 November 2026 (an extension is requested and a UN decision pending), and Regulation (EU) 2026/1395 keeps EBA for three years after graduation, so to at least the end of 2029 on the current date. Verified 21 September 2026; we confirm the live position for every order.
Belgium's standard VAT rate is 21%, set by Royal Decree No. 20, charged at import on the customs value plus any duty; with zero duty that is 21% of the customs value, so US$630 on a US$3,000 order. We ship DDP so it is inside the price you approve. A VAT-registered business recovers it on its periodic return; ask your accountant how you want the import VAT handled and tell us before we file the entry.
The language of the linguistic region where the garment is sold: Dutch in Flanders, French in Wallonia, both in Brussels and German in the East Cantons, under Article VI.8 of the Code de droit économique, which requires mandatory labelling to be understandable to the average consumer in that region. Most Belgian ranges take a Dutch-French label; we sew whatever combination you need, with the fibre content in the format Regulation (EU) No 1007/2011 requires.
Yes. Import VAT is charged in the member state where the goods first enter the EU, so a brand that warehouses in the Netherlands and clears at Rotterdam pays Dutch import VAT at 21% and then trades within the single market; one that clears at Antwerp pays Belgian VAT at 21%. The rate happens to be the same in both, so the choice is about your warehouse and your accountant, not the tax. Tell us which and we set the paperwork up for it.
One hundred pieces per style, per colour. For a Belgian first range most brands land on three to five hundred pieces across two or three styles, enough to justify the GPSR compliance work once and reuse it on reorders. Splitting a hundred pieces across several colours triggers separate dye lots and prices accordingly, so one colour deep beats three shallow. Our free MOQ calculator models the split.
About ten days for sampling, forty to fifty days for production once the pre-production sample is signed off, then transit: in our experience roughly four to five weeks by sea to Antwerp, or five to eight days by air into Brussels or Liège. We ship DDP, so the entry, the VAT and delivery are handled on our side and you receive one landed cost and one delivery. The launch-date calculator counts back from your on-sale date.
